The list of nominees for the ACM Awards were released yesterday and there were some notable names missing from the list including Blake Shelton. However, Blake is focusing on his new album and not the ACM snub.
It is hard to believe that the man who extended his record setting string of consecutive number one singles to 16 (21 #1s for his career) in the past year and is a huge part of the award winning TV show “The Voice“, just name a couple of big accomplishments, did not receive a single nomination from the ACM Awards.
While many artists in country music were celebrating their nominations for ACM awards yesterday, Blake was responding to questions on Twitter about NOT getting any nominations and working on his forthcoming new album.
One message stated, “We hate that @blakeshelton was snubbed by the #ACMAwards this year”
Blake’s response was simply, “Oh well…. I just have to do better. Working on it now!”

One fan asked Blake, “@blakeshelton when you don’t get an award nomination does it hit you in the heart?” Blake didn’t lie about being hurt some by the snub, but then in true “BS fashion” brushed it off by saying, “A little bit… But it also gives me a night off!!!”

Before the ACMs happen, Blake is nominated for a GRAMMY for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for his song “Lonely Tonight” with Ashley Monroe. When another fan asked Blake, “@blakeshelton what are you gonna do if you win a Grammy??” the country singer-songwriter responded with his heart when he said, “I’d LOVE to win a Grammy but honestly want to see @joeyandrory win that one.”

Blake is not just sitting back and complaining about not getting a nomination. Instead, he is working on his next album which will come out sometime this spring. While we know little about the new project, we can now assume that the legendary Oak Ridge Boys will be featured on the new Blake Shelton album.
Last night (2/1) Blake posted the picture at the top of the page along with the message, “Tonight was literally magic… Thank you @oakridgeboys!! What an honor. So excited about my album!!!”
I can’t wait to hear what Blake has for us on his new album!
