Reports say that sales totals on Black Friday dropped slightly this year, but the total sales over the Thanksgiving holiday were actually up.
If you were out in the madness that is known as Black Friday, you may find it hard to believe that sales on the day were down. However, according to retail researcher ShopperTrak, this year’s take for retailers on Black Friday was $10.4 billion compared to $11.6 billion on the day in 2014.
Sale on Thanksgiving Day (when many retailers start their Black Friday sales) also fell slightly from just over $2 billion in 2014 to $1.8 billion this year.
However, that doesn’t mean we spent less money on the holiday. Online sales for Black Friday saw a 14 percent increase over last year with $2.72 billion in sales this year.
Cyber-Monday also saw an increase over last year up 12 percent to around $3 billion in sales making it the biggest online sales day in history.
Even though Black Friday in-store sales were down, sales over the five days from Thanksgiving Day Thursday through Cyber-Monday were up from last year with totals topping 11 billion dollars!
For those who were looking for that special purchase a little closer to Christmas, you could be disappointed. There is a record 13 out of 100 products already sold out.
The top five most popular electronics on Cyber-Monday were the 4K TV, the Microsoft Xbox One, the Apple iPad Mini, the Apple iPad Air 2 and the Sony PS4.
Popular toys were Shopkins dolls, the Barbie Dream House, LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Dimensions and LEGO City.
