Jason Wingate is the golf pro and Director of Golf for Bloomington golf courses. He has taken on the dubious task of teaching me a better way to play. The game I played consisted of hitting the ball as hard as one can. After all the harder you try the better you play is the motto we’ve all been taught.
Jason has given me two lessons and the first thing he taught was that is the worst motto to have in golf. Relaxing my left shoulder and letting the club do the work. The other thing about my lesson from Jason Wingate is that we try to make the game so much harder than we need. We all need to stop trying to control the ball with our swing. I’ll have more updates as the season rolls on and my hope is that the lessons I share will help your game as well.
Remember to get the kids involved with the longtime Ken Adams junior golf league. It’s for ages 8 through high school. It’s every Monday during the summer and you can join anytime. If you’re interested in golf lessons with Jason Wingate or Allen they operates mainly at the Den at Fox Creek in Bloomington. Click here for a great talk with Jason Wingate thins morning on B104.
