Lady Antebellum is so excited about their new song "Downtown" they want you to learn the lyrics via video before you hear it on the radio.
The song is the lead single from Lady Antebellum's fourth studio album. The project will be released later this year, although it does not have an official date or title yet. Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood loved "Downtown" when they first heard it, but almost didn't get to record it. ABC News Radio reports that Miranda Lambert had the song on hold before the trio heard it.
"Well, she finds out that we are in love with the song and really want to cut it, and bless her heart, she gave it back, gave it to us and let us cut it," Charles said. He added: "That just shows how tight knight this town is too. She goes, 'Lady A really wants this, I'm gonna let them have it.'"
So what is it about "Downtown" that the three members of Lady Antebellum love so much? "I think right when I heard it, I was like, 'Man, this reminds me of almost an old Sheryl Crow kind of song from the '90s, or some of that old production," Dave says, adding: "We thought it was such a fun, energetic, kind of a little swagger, if you will."
The trio produced their own official lyric video for the song. You can hear it for yourself and decide if it indeed has a "little swagger" to the fun and energy. Watch the lyric video for "Downtown" by Lady Antebellum below.
