Last night (10/16) Darius Rucker was inducted as the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry. Watch the video of the emotional milestone for Darius.
Darius received his invitation to become the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry from country star and Opry member Brad Paisley just a couple of weeks ago. Country star and Opry member Vince Gill presented Darius with his award signifying his membership in the Grand Ole Opry. As he handed the replica statue of the Grand Ole Opry microphone to Darius Vince said: “It represents the entire history of this music. I don’t think there’s a more beloved guy in our music than you. I think everyone adores you…before you even open your mouth and sing.”
Darius was recognized next by the audience who gave him a standing ovation. Darius told the audience: “This is a labor of love for me. I love country music!” After thanking the fans, his label, his producer and his wife and children, Darius said through some tears: “I was sitting in here at rehearsals today, and there was nobody in here, and I looked up in the stands. I thought to myself, ‘Somewhere in those stands right now my mom is looking at me.’ And it just blew me away to be here today. …This means more to me than I could ever say to you.”
It's so refreshing to see such an amazingly talented person be so humble and truly grateful. Congratulations to Darius Rucker on being inducted as the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry, you deserve the honor.
