Brad Paisley's forthcoming new album "Wheelhouse" will include a song with LL Cool J. That's right, LL Cool J, the rapper/actor!
Country Weekly reports that Brad Paisley has included a collaboration with LL on his album "Wheelhouse" which is due to be released April 9th. The lead single form the project is called "Southern Comfort Zone" and is currently at number two on the Billboard Country Airplay singles chart. I would say doing a song with rapper LL Cool J could be a bit outside that "Southern Comfort Zone" for Brad.
The rapper/actor was the host of the Grammy Awards last Sunday night (2/10). LL is also one of the stars of the CBS hit TV show "NCIS: Los Angeles." LL closed out the Grammys with a performance of a song from his new rap album.
So the question is out there, how does a country superstar get put together with a rapper for a song? Brad says: "We have a mutual friend who hooked us up when I had an idea for something."
The second question that comes to mind is, what kind of song would a country singer/songwriter that is known for his more traditional style do with a rapper? I mean, is this a "spoof" kind of song for fun or what? "Yeah, it's fun," Brad says, then adds, "Well actually, the song with him is more serious than fun."
So what did Brad think of LL after working with him? "He's a great songwriter, and more importantly, he's a great human being. He's a really nice man, and he is a class act. And I am lucky to associate with him at all."
I guess we will have to wait until April 9th when "Wheelhouse" is released to find out just what kind of song it is that Brad Paisley and LL Cool J have created together. I must say, it definitely intrigues me and I look forward to hearing it.
