The San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens are headed for Super Bowl XLVII (49). The Harbaugh brothers will coach against each other to make NFL history.
This will be the first time in NFL history that two borthers have faced off against each other in the Super Bowl. Twice brothers have played on the same team in the same Buper Bowl, but never have two been on opposing teams. The two Harbaugh brothers will not be playing on the field, but guiding their repective teams from the sidelines to make sports history.
The San Francisco 49ers' and their coach Jim Harbaugh were the first to punch their ticket to the Super Bowl Sunday afternoon (1/20). The 49ers scored the final two touchdowns in the game (and only points of the second half) to come from behind and beat the Atlanta Falcons to win the NFC Championship by a final score of 28-24.
The Baltimore Ravens and their coach John Harbaugh also came from behind to get to the Super Bowl. The Ravens also scored the only points in the second half. Three touchdown passes from the Ravens in the second half led them to a 28-24 victory over the New England Patriots to capture the AFC Championship.
ABCnews.go.com reports that the two teams are a combined 6-0 in the Super Bowl. However, the edge belongs to the 49ers who have five of those NFL Championsips to the Ravens one. That means in two weeks one of these two football teams will experience their first ever loss in the Supre Bowl.
It all makes you wonder if the two coaching Harbaugh brothers will have some kind of sibling rivalry bet on the game? You know, something like "the losing coach has to wash the winner's car for a year.
The Super Bowl XLVII will be played in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, LA on Sunday, February 3, 2013. The game will be aired on CBS TV starting at 5:30 p.m. central time.
