How to Protect Yourself Against Dangerous Wind Chills

How to Protect Yourself Against Dangerous Wind Chills

With the Wind Chill Advisory tonight through tomorrow I thought this might be a good time for a reminder to protect yourself against dangerous wind chills.

The Wind Chill Advisory set for tonight (1/24) at 6 PM through tomorrow (1/25) at noon will most likely not be the last time we deal with this danger this winter. If you have to be outside during weather like this, make sure to protect yourself against the dangers of frostbite and hypothermia.

According to Weatherbug, wind chills of below zero can cause frostbite withing five minutes. Minus 20 wind chills and lower can cause frostbite within a minute of your skin being exposed.

Make sure to bundle up and cover up as much skin as possible if you have to be outside tonight (or any other time the wind chills reach these dangerous levels). Even being bundled up does not guarantee frostbite or hypothermia won’t occur.

The best way to make sure you do not get frostbite or hypothermia is to remain inside during the times of such dangerous wind chills.

Keep safe and keep warm!
