Kevin Harvick Shares NASCAR Michigan Win with Son [VIDEO]

Kevin Harvick scored a dominant NASCAR win Sunday at Michigan International Speedway and shared the victory celebration with his son Keelan.

The 200 laps of racing in the Consumers Energy 400 at Michigan was full of miscues of on pit row, on track and some on track incidents. It was also full of hard racing for the lead and the win.

Nine different drivers led at least one lap during the race. While Martin Truex Jr., Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin and Austin Dillon all showed they had cars capable of challenging for the win, it was Kevin Harvick that dominated the race.

Kevin led a race high 108 of the 200 laps of racing at Michigan International Speedway scoring the win in stage one, stage two and the third and final stage of the race.

When Kevin stopped his car to claim the checkered flag in the Consumers Energy 400 at the start/finish line it was his son Keelan who ran across the track to get the flag and then rode with his dad on his victory lap.

The win was Kevin’s second career victory in NASCAR’s top division at the track and his seventh win in the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season.

Brad Keselowski recovered from some issues to claim a second place finish with Kyle Busch finishing in third place. Austin Dillon took home a fourth place finish and Ryan Blaney rounded out the top five sin Sunday afternoon’s (8/12) race. Following the Michigan race the top five in the point standings remained the same: Kyle Busch (1st), Kevin Harvick (2nd), Martin Truex Jr. (3rd), Kurth Busch (4th) and Clint Bowyer (5th). See the complete Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series point standings here.

With just three races remaining before the NASCAR playoffs begin it’s “short trackin’ Saturday night under the lights” this week for the drivers and teams. The Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race takes place this Saturday night (8/18) at Bristol Motor Speedway.
