Luke Bryan is ending the year in 2017 with a new album and a number one single with the song “Light It Up.”

Last Friday (12/8) Luke released his sixth studio album titled What Makes You Country. The project has already reached #1 on the iTunes Country Albums chart as well as the iTunes all-genre albums chart.

The debut single from the album “Light It Up” is sitting at number one on the Billboard Country Airplay and Mediabase/Country Aircheck singles charts for this week according to the advance release of both charts.

The song not only becomes Luke’s 19th career chart topper, it is also his 19th number one single in a row!

Luke co-wrote the song with Brad Tursi of the band Old Dominion. Luke recalls the day the two wrote the now #1 song.

“I’m such a big fan of what Old Dominion does and they work their tails off,” he shares, “Brad comes out to my house and we kind of get to know each other a little better around the coffee pot and then we go in my songwriting room and start working.”

Luke reveals the original idea for the song came from Brad, “He tells me kind of this chorus thing and I remember he had the melody thing like (sings) ‘I blew you up in the middle of the night again.’ I kind of liked that and we just started rockin’ and wrote a song.”

Something tells me these two will be writing together again.

I have no doubt that Luke’s new album What Makes You Country will debut at #1 on the Billboard Country Album sales chart next week. We will just have to wait to find out where it lands on the Billboard 200 all-genre chart.

Congratulations to Luke Bryan on his #1 song “Light It Up.” Listen for it on Bloomington-Normal’s #1 Country, B104.
