NASCAR Chase race number five was held at Kansas Speedway and it was Joey Logano winning his second race in a row in the Hollywood Casino 400.
Joey won the first race in the Contender Round at Charlotte the previous week. That locked him in the next round of NASCAR’s playoffs. Joey blocked the other 11 remaining contenders from locking themselves into the next round by grabbing the win at Kansas.
Denny Hamlin finished in second place with Jimmie Johnson in third, Kasey Kahne fourth and Kyle Busch rounding out the top five. See the complete race results for the Hollywood Casino 400 here.
On his way to the win, Joey sent Matt Kenseth spinning when Matt blocked Joey on the track. That spin not only kept Matt from having a shot at a win and a lock in the next round of The Chase, it also dropped Matt to the bottom of the Chase Grid with just one race left in this round. Dale Earnhardt Jr. also found misfortune in the Hollywood Casino to remain just one spot above Matt on the grid. These two drivers will likely need to win the final race in the Contender Round to advance in NASCAR’s playoffs.
Twelve drivers will start the race this week at Talladega Superspeedway with a chance to win the NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship. However, after the CampingWorld.com 500 there will only be eight drivers that advance to the Eliminator Round with a shot at winning the championship.
